In the middle of a dark lonely night, you find yourself staring at a ceiling that has been run through with demonic horns. And they glitter, as blood drips from and into your eyes….Whoosh! A Nightmare. It is then, that you realize your body is going numb and cold, writhing in awkward directions as if bewitched, your heart gulped by a sinking feeling, your sweat buds puking out oodles of that salty wetness and your brain gone on a hike to Mt. Everest. The Nightmare has just begun.

Panic attacks, are terrible bouts of anxiety soiled with a pump-up of adrenaline and all that follows it. Though, it usually happens in broad daylight, there are these rarest-of-the-rare cases, where you hit them while you’re asleep. The worst part is that when encountering such an anxiety bang, you aren’t wakeful enough to understand what’s going on.

It’s largely taken as a bolt from the blue, and in most cases, it’s mistaken for a heart-attack. The reason behind these attacks cannot be properly explained. It could be the outcome of a stressful period, like coming over to a new neighborhood, losing a loved one, and so on. But there have been cases reported, where the victim had no such basis, and yet the catastrophe struck him. In such cases, it’s completely unexplainable, except the fact that such guys must have had a repressed emotional past, and have lived most of their lives as cagey introverts. But, if we are to deal with it, one thing should be kept in mind- a panic attack is a symptom, not a disease in itself. It’s the bursting of a build-up of stress and edginess.

If the root is destroyed, the branches shall succumb. Behavioral therapies and Psychological counsel can put you at ease over your misgivings. Though, medicating the symptoms, with prescription drugs and tranquilizers, will calm you down, as if a sort of peace has stolen over you, the volcano has to be pushed back to dormancy. It is the core that has to be resolved, and if the solace reaches you inside, the olive branches shall naturally bloom on the outside.

You’re pregnant. A living set of tissues takes form as you speak of it. You’re 12 weeks into gestation. And you are anxious about having an Anxiety attack. “God”! Let’s get human first.Panic attacks, as they’re also called, surprisingly enough are pretty common. Statistically, 10% of the adult population will undergo this intense assault, at least once in their lives. The risk of facing one is usually inherited, but that isn’t even half the point. Its occurrence is reported to have been found twice as much in women as in men. Menopausal women, have been known to be under considerable risk, for long. But the real mind-bender is to be assaulted while you have a baby inside you. With hormones zooming around, glucose levels on high and low tides, your breathing, circulation, digestion; Pregnancy has your whole body acting like its wartime. And it indeed is, for the fruit has yet to be borne, uncorrupted, and untouched.

Though many complain, that they experienced their first anxiety attack, during their first pregnancy; it is not always the case. Women with early histories, find these attacks coming out of exile to aggravate matters. And it seems like its more of a psychological phenomenon, the physical being just a result of the former. Something has got to be done, before you freak out, literally.

A Panic attack has some unique symptoms. And they appear as if the body is breaking down, when actually, it’s shielding itself from possible harm. To say it in a word, it’s an adrenaline charge. A rushing heart-rate, chest pain, breathlessness ridden with anxiety, an endlessly perspiring body, nauseating dizziness, and a fear of dying, are quite visible.

Its a loss of tranquility, and whatever promises to bring it back, is a relief.

Tranquilizers could be a beginning, but you bear the risk of damaging the Central nervous system of the fetus. Behavioral therapy could be the next option, but you need some homely peace. Meditation is the mother of serenity. The take-in-a-deep-breath mechanism counters panic attacks like nothing else. All you need is 5 or 10 minutes to relax and lose all your toxins, nervous ones of course. Try this, and you’ll find yourself chuckling in the face of a panic attack. And nothing can be more panicky for it.

Ever been in a situation where you are with a group of friends, in a marketplace, or somewhere else, and, all of a sudden, one of them takes off on a neural flight, quite literally. He’s sweating horribly, has got goose bumps all over his trembling body, and is shrieking like a madman on the top of his lungs. You’ve witnessed what is technically referred to as an Anxiety Attack.Panic attacks, as they’re also called, surprisingly enough are pretty common. Statistically, 10% of the adult population will undergo this intense assault, at least once in their lives. The risk of facing one is usually inherited. Apart from some illness-related causes, like hypoglycemia and OCDs, it generally is the result of an unnatural trigger.

Passive people, Drunkards or post-traumatic cases are also amongst the inflicted. There’s also this somewhat less-known fear of open spaces or the marketplace. The victims report to have felt all the openness closing in on them. A dizzying god-forsaken feeling, Agoraphobia is also a substantial trigger to an anxiety attack. It comes from the Greek word Agora, meaning the marketplace. Sadly, there happen to be things that one takes to his grave, unchanged, and uncured; But there’s always a way to minimize its effects and control its more serious manifestations.

People also panic about having a panic attack- a vicious circle.

The best things in this world are free, they say, and though there is no substitute to medically-approved medication, a chortle helps you to laugh it off. A behavioral therapy works or Cognitive restructuring, brands negativity with a positive tattoo. Laughter combats cortisol (stress-hormone) levels, and so does meditation. The take-in-a-deep-breath mechanism counters panic attacks in a very natural way. So why not bring that fear of yours in the open?

Ever been in a situation where you are with a group of friends, in a marketplace, or somewhere else, and, all of a sudden, one of them takes off on a neural flight, quite literally. He’s sweating horribly, has got goose bumps all over his trembling body, and is shrieking like a madman on the top of his lungs. You’ve witnessed what is technically referred to as an Anxiety Attack.Panic attacks, as they’re also called, surprisingly enough are pretty common. Statistically, 10% of the adult population will undergo this intense assault, at least once in their lives.

The risk of facing one is usually inherited, seen twice as more often in women than in men. Apart from some illness-related causes, like hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, Obsessive compulsive disorders amongst others, it generally is a result of an unnatural trigger. People whose dealings are fraught with passiveness, who’ve been victims to a trauma, or are drug-addicts and chronic consumers of alcohol, have also been found as sufferers.

Agoraphobia, or fear of open crowded places, can also amount up to it. So how do we recognize a, technically speaking, genuine panic attack, and not confuse it with, lets say a nervous breakdown or maybe a heart attack, the latter being frequently misplaced.

In such a loss of self-possession, where there’s an exact opposite of tranquility, anything that might return it is a valuable measure. And what could be better than a dose of laughter.

The best things in this world are free, they say, and though you won’t find it on a prescription, a chortle is an irreplaceable treatment. A behavioral therapy works on the same thing. Laughter combats cortisol (stress-hormone) levels, and thus, is a wonderful way of relaxing oneself. It brings back a much-needed peace of mind. The old in the Orient, are still found saying, that Laughter is the best medicine. Sounds clichéd doesn’t it? That’s because it’s absolutely true.

A trained homeopath can be beneficial for the treatment of chronic anxiety disorders but for shorter episodes of self-limited and transient anxiety, appropriate remedies can be used. The 6x potency should be taken in the beginning and two tablets should be taken in every two to four hours depending upon the acuteness or severity of the illness. On noticing the improvement, intervals between the dosages can be improved and treatment discontinued when improvement seems to be well on its way. The remedy should be taken with a clean mouth free from food, drink, toothpaste, mouthwash or tobacco.

Rather than swallowing the granules or tablet with water, they should be allowed to dissolve slowly in your mouth and after the intake of remedy, nothing but water should be ingested for at least fifteen minutes.
Some of the medicines useful in treating the symptoms of anxiety are as follows:

Aconitum Napellus (commonly known as Aconite): It is a kind of sudden panic attack accompanied with a strong fear (often of death). This remedy is effective in case of these symptoms shown: dizziness or faintness upon waking up, intolerable pain often followed by tingling or numbness, painful urination accompanied with anxiety, flushing of the face, shortness of breath and strong palpitations.

Arsenicum Album: This remedy is useful for people who are deeply anxious regarding their health and extremely concerned with security and order. Panic attacks usually occur around midnight or very early hours of morning. The person may be restless-fidgeting and still exhausted, pacing and moving anxiously to different places. These people can suffer from asthma attacks followed by anxiety and digestive problems too. The other symptoms for which this remedy can be prescribed are drowsiness with insomnia, vomiting after eating and drinking with or without diarrhoea, anxiety associated with sneezing and later stages of head-cold, fearing suffocation while lying down and asthma getting worse after midnight.

Gelsemium (Gels): This remedy is given when you experience trembling, weakness, and mental dullness on being paralyzed by fear. It is useful during anxiety about and upcoming event such as interview or public performance, or anxiety before taking a test, visit to dentist or some other stressful events. A fear of falling, fear of crowd or fear of heart getting stopped suddenly is some of the indications for Gelsemium. The symptoms are fatigue and whole body ache, lack of thirst, sore throat, nervousness, head, limbs and eyelids heavy etc.

The other such remedies for short term anxiety attacks are Argentum Nitricum (Arg-n), Lycopodium, Phosphorous, Silicea, Pulsatilla, Ignatia Amara, Kali phosphoricum, Natrum muriaticum which are effective for some specific symptoms.

Research has provided a lot of effective treatments for anxiety disorders recently. Psychotherapy (also called talk therapy) and medications for anxiety are available generally for the treatment of anxiety disorders; the choice of each type is dependent on doctor and patient’s preference and type of anxiety disorder. Medications prescribed by doctor for anxiety disorders though ineffective in curing the disorder completely can keep the symptoms under control and enable the sufferer to lead a fulfilling and normal life. Psychotherapy provided by other mental health professionals along with these medications is the best possible way to cure anxiety disorder in a person completely. This article will describe the major classes of medications effective for various anxiety disorders; some are listed below.

Various antidepressants are found effective in the treatment of anxiety disorder as well so if your doctor prescribes an antidepressant, you should take it for number of weeks to let the symptoms fade. SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are the newest antidepressants acting in the brain on serotonin which is a chemical messenger. Examples of these medications are Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro and Prozac which have fewer side effects than earlier antidepressants; these medicines are started at lower dose and gradually increased till therapeutic level is reached. Some people reported to have experienced sexual dysfunction at initial intake of these medicines and some also feel slightly jittery or nauseated which disappears gradually with time. These issues are not bothersome as dosage adjustment and switch to other SSRI often corrects these effects.

Other class of antidepressants are tricyclics which are older than SSRIs and are equally effective other than in case of OCD. SSRIs are preferred to tricyclics as these medicines causes dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness and weight gain. Similarly MAOIs (Monoamine oxidase inhibitors are the oldest class of antidepressants but is not preferred much as those who take these medicines are put on restrictive diets. These medications interact with other medications as well as some food and beverage including red wine and cheese which contains a chemical called tyramine. These interactions between different substances can cause elevated blood pressure and other potentially dangerous reactions.

Among anxiety disorder medications, Benzodiazepines are the high potency medicines that are quick in relieving symptoms and have fewer side effects. Except panic disorder these medicines are prescribed for shorter periods of time and people with alcohol or drug abuse are not good candidate for these medications which can increase their dependence. Azipirones are another class of drugs which has a member called Buspirone (BuSpar) which is the latest anti anxiety medicine used for the treatment of GAD. It should be taken consistently for two weeks to reach anti anxiety effects. There are other medications like beta-blockers (propanolol) which can be prescribed by doctors to stop the development of physical symptoms like heart pounding and hand shaking.

Brooke Hogan is a famous face who cruises around in her VH1 show “Brooke knows best” where she comes across as a collected and calm person. However it seems that beneath all this she might be suffering some serious and alarming medical problems and she is reported to have suffered stress attack. It has been exclusively learned by Pop Tarts that Hogan had to pull out in the last minute after anxiety attacks suffered by her along with some other medical ailments from Mega Jam concert at Party 105 in Newyork some past Saturday where this 21 year old songstress/starlet was scheduled to perform along with Sean Kingston, Kristine Elezaj who is rising pop diva and LMFAO. Hulk Hogan, famous one himself, was scheduled to host the whole concert but as soon as he learned of the anxiety attack suffered by his daughter, he withdrew in order to be by her side and even forced organisers to proceed without replacing the host.

Brooke Hogan is very sensitive as reported by a source that is very close to the songstress. He also added that she takes on a lot and cares about almost everyone around her. Also Tarts was told by a rep for the Hogans that Brooke was advised not to perform or travel as she was sick for a couple of weeks but is better now. Hulk was not even scheduled to perform as claimed by the rep.

This blonde who is beach loving exposed lot of personal emotions while taking a shot at her second studio album named “Redemption”.

Hogan told Tarts recently that she wrote about all those drama with her family and their separation and all crazy stuff. She told that she has a song called “dear mom” which is about all the trials and tribulations of her mom and the battle with the press. She added that as she is in love, she wrote about that and everything that she has been through all this while.

Psychological Causes: The reasons of anxiety attacks related to disorders, characterized by rare hereditary diseases because of chemical imbalances in the brain and daily stress, overwork or fatigue. A little bit will never cause trouble but when they get out of control, it can lead a person to lose emotional stability and affects a person’s emotional health. However, it stops with the end of stressful time and are temporary. Physical causes for anxiety attacks are hence more likely to happen.

Physical Causes: Hormonal imbalances are the main causes for anxiety attacks. Cortisol is the name of the hormone that is responsible for stress and anxiety and its level is regulated by oestrogen hormones. Cortisol cannot be controlled if oestrogen level is dropped in your body, thereby producing more anxiety and stress. Imbalance in the levels of hormone occurs during menopause, which is the most common cause for anxiety attacks.

If it is psychological, then it should be treated by a psychiatrist and proper rest should be taken and proper schedule should be maintained to treat stress, fatigue and overwork.

If you can manage to integrate an exercise program along with these, you will get quicker relief from attacks. As for treatment in case of low hormonal levels hormonal balancing programs and drugs that helps in restoring the balance back in your body should be taken.
