The common symptom of depression is anxiety. Depression always starts with anxiety. The common symptoms of depressions are somatic anxiety, psychic activity and worry. People having characters of hypersomnia, hyperphagia, reverse dirunal variation, significant anxiety and extreme reaction anxiety. Extreme reaction sensitivity is the most common symptom of depression. The psychiatric symptoms of comorbid anxiety disorder is quite common in most of the adults. The presence of Major depressive disorder MDD and comorbid anxiety disorder is as high as 60 percent. Comorbidity comes with depressive and anxiety disorders. Severe comorbidity results in extreme phychiatric outcomes. The severity acts as barriers to treatment that increases resistance to treatment, risk of commiting suicide, increased chance of recurrence and increase in utilization of medical resources.

Effective recognition and diagnosis of the symptoms and well equipped treatment of depression and anxiety produces better results. Paying vigilant attention to the development of depression and anxiety reduces the economic burden of the patients. Medical practitioners, doctors and consultants should clearly understand the medical disorders, comorbidity of anxiety and depression in order to treat the patient effectively.
There are various cases of comorbid disorders. They are depression coupled with illness, depression along with heart attack, depression along with diabetes. Doctors should also analysze the impact of depression and anxiety and the increased risk of committing suicides.

Pharmacological and non pharmacological treatments are the effective way to treat comorbid anxiety disorders. Patients with severe symptoms require medical cure.

Non pharmacological therapy consists of CBT-cognitive behavioral therapy.

The general first level of pharmacological treatment for the disorder is the usage of SSRIs. The results show that they are in no way more effective to other anti depressants.
Other effective antidepressants are atypical antipsychotics, anti convulsants, β-adrenergic blocking agents, busprine, benzodiazepines.

SSRI’s are recommended over MAOIs and TCAs in non comorbid and comorbid depression and anxiety taking into consideration side effect and safety of the drugs.

Any treatment should take into consideration the patient’s profile and how he responds to the treatment. Based on the response of the patient to the various drugs, the condition and level anxiety in patient should be monitored.

Preoccupation with imagined defect in one’s appearance is known as BDD or body dysmorphic disorder suicide. People with these symptoms cannot function as a normal being. People have the tendency of perceiving themselves ugly and results in loss of confidence. BDD is the most common and severe psychiatric disorder across the world. This preoccupation makes people spend lot of time in front of the mirror and constant complaining. They constantly change their dresses, groom themselves, comb their hair, apply makeup, camouflaging with clothes, hat or makeup, dieting, skin picking, reassurance seeking and compare themselves with others.

Generally all the people have some defect or the other physically. But people with this disorder magnify even the minute defects in them. They are severely impacted by these negative obsessions with their inaccurate perceptions. People with BDD often undergo cosmetic surgery and dermatology treatments that are unnecessary and not required for them.

People are affected by these symptoms due to some incidents in their life.
They are depressed, socially isolated, stressed, inferior quality of life and tend to commit suicide. BDD people are at high risk of committing suicides, and when they attempt suicide they generally succeed.

BDD people even though their appeared is quite perfect they tend to perceive they are abnormal. They assume themselves to be abnormal, unattractive, deformed and think that they are some monsters. BDD is seen in adolescents and can even children. This disease affects people in almost all countries.

BDD is extremely difficult to diagnose as people shy away from discussing their problems with anyone due to fear of being trivialized. In most cases this symptom may be under diagnosed as people doesn’t like to consult with many doctors. BDD requires use of diagnostic instruments but with patients not cooperating it is a difficult task. Sometimes it may be misdiagnosed as social phobia or psychotic depression or schizophrenia.

Since treatment for BDD research is still going on, CBT-cognitive behavioral therapy and SRI-serotonin reuptake inhibitors are the most prescribed treatments.
People with BDD should be treated with extreme personal attention so that they will come away from their perceived misconceptions.

Many people suffer from anxiety. This anxiety arises due to social disorder. People can have anxiety and social disorder in two different ways. In the first case, the symptom may be bipolar disorder itself. In the second case, people can be affected with bipolar disorder along with anxiety. This symptom is termed as ‘co-morbid’ condition. In the second case, both the conditions are present and the resultant anxiety is not due to the bipolar disorder.

So both these conditions should be treated separately. If the symptoms are due to bipolar disorder, then anxiety cures with bipolar disorder. But if both symptoms are not interrelated, anxiety persists even when bipolar disorder is cured.

Anxiety with separate condition requires special attention and treatment. Psychotherapy treatment gives better results in combination with medicines. Social anxiety is most common in people with extreme mood swings. Some people experience confident mood swings. In this type, people will be extremely confident and some times their anxiety increases where they long to meet new people often. This is termed as social phobia. In these circumstances if medication is used then bipolar disorder worsens. One can have behavior therapy. Here people are treated without anti depressants.

If people suffer from anxiety as a symptom of bipolar disorder, then they will be having agitation, pick the nails, can’t sit still, pace up and down. People cannot even think if these symptoms are severe since they will be experiencing extreme energy. They will be even experiencing irritation and other manic symptoms that make them addicted to alcohol. This also results in successful suicide attempts. People experiencing anxiety with depression will have strong urge to commit suicide. Under these circumstances people feel their future is unbearable resulting in suicides. These symptoms are curable and people should consult therapists.

There are different types of conditions in anxiety that results independent of bipolar disorder. They are social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder GAD, post traumatic stress disorder PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder OCD, specific phobias, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.

People suffering from these disorders if diagnosed and treated accordingly, will be cured of these diseases.

Anxiety attacks are due to complex combination of negative thoughts and emotions including extreme worry, extreme fear or apprehension and are accompanied with physical sensations such as shortness of breath, palpitations and/or chest pain; it also disturbs mood, behaviour, thoughts and many physiological activities. Anyone of any age can be prone to anxiety attacks and the statistics says that about 19 million Americans are afflicted with this. During menopause, these attacks are experienced by most women as a normal part of living but when these feelings get persistent, interfering with daily life and overwhelming then it can even terrify her. As its becoming common during menopause for women, understanding the causes and factors becomes necessary to deal with anxiety attacks effectively.

What can be the causes for anxiety attacks? The causes can be generally divided into two i.e. physical cause and psychological cause.

Psychological Causes: The reasons of anxiety attacks related to disorders, characterized by rare hereditary diseases because of chemical imbalances in the brain and daily stress, overwork or fatigue. A little bit will never cause trouble but when they get out of control, it can lead a person to lose emotional stability and affects a person’s emotional health. However, it stops with the end of stressful time and are temporary. Physical causes for anxiety attacks are hence more likely to happen.

Physical Causes: Hormonal imbalances are the main causes for anxiety attacks. Cortisol is the name of the hormone that is responsible for stress and anxiety and its level is regulated by oestrogen hormones. Cortisol cannot be controlled if oestrogen level is dropped in your body, thereby producing more anxiety and stress. Imbalance in the levels of hormone occurs during menopause, which is the most common cause for anxiety attacks.

Anxiety attacks can get worse if not treated on time; there are various effective and safe methods to control and cure these attacks. First of all, understanding whether the problem is psychological or physical is important. If it is psychological, then it should be treated by a psychiatrist and proper rest should be taken and proper schedule should be maintained to treat stress, fatigue and overwork.

If you can manage to integrate an exercise program along with these, you will get quicker relief from attacks. As for treatment in case of low hormonal levels hormonal balancing programs and drugs that helps in restoring the balance back in your body should be taken. There are certain therapies such as “lifestyle approaches” that are also an effective ways to treat anxiety attacks.

Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) is a type of personality disorder which is marked by perfectionism, rigidity, control and over concern with work. It is a mental disorder which strives for excessive success. Perfection and only perfection is the goal for the person suffering from this kind of disorder. Failure is treated by that persona s a shattering of earth. They lack flexibility and openness.
The basic symptoms of OCPD are preoccupation with details, lists, organization, rules and schedules, being extremely rigid and inflexible in their beliefs.

They resist any kind of change. OCPD persons are normally workaholics but not due to the reason that they like to work. They are constantly worrying that something may go wrong. They can sacrifice their family life, friendships and other relationships at the sake of productivity and output. They spend excessive time and energy in planning an event but are unable to enjoy the actual event. They are more demanding towards their partners. It really becomes difficult to maintain a long-term relationship with these persons. They are so terrified of change that they hardly discard useless objects and things, change the furniture, willing to relocate etc.
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) is different from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as OCPD is a personality disorder while OCD is an anxiety. Person suffering from OCD focuses on particular distressing obsessions like repeated hand-wash etc. but person suffering with OCPD involves a broad approach.
Treatment of this type of personality disorder is possible through:
1. Psychodynamic Therapy- The goal of this therapy is to help the patient in identifying his feelings towards a situation. The therapist tries to remind his patients that they are also prone to error like the others and a mistake is not as bad as they believe.

2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- This is another method to treat the OCPD person that has
shown its positive results. In this therapy, the therapist listens to the OCPD patient and tries to change his faulty thoughts into the positive ones.

3. Medication – Medication also helps the patient to think about a situation more clearly and
make decisions better and faster without getting distracted by the minor details.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a form of psychotherapy that underlines the important role of thinking. It assumes that it is our wrong faulty thought patterns that cause maladjustive behavior and emotional responses. The external things like people, situations and events have nothing to do with it. This therapy focuses on changing thoughts so as to solve the psychological, behavioral and personality problems. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is considered to be the most rapid and effective treatment in terms of
the results. In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the therapist basically focuses on three main areas i.e. Cognitive (i.e. thinking/believing process), behavioral (i.e. what they do) and emotional (i.e. relaxation/peaceful/strength and power strategies).

Therapists use several techniques in the course of their behavioral therapy to help their patients and change their thoughts and behaviors. Some of these techniques include:
• The therapist normally asks the patient to defend their thoughts and beliefs. If the patient fails to produce the objective evidence, their faulty nature is exposed.
•	The patient is sometimes asked by the therapist to imagine a difficult situation he has encountered in the past and then try to practice how to cope successfully with.
•	In Guided discovery technique, a series of questions are being asked by the therapist from the patient. This is done to discover the cognitive distortions of the patient.
•	The patient is being told to maintain a diary of the situations arise in his everyday life and the behavior to those situations that accompany him. The therapist then reviews the diary with the patient and discovers all the maladaptive thoughts so as to correct them
•	In positive reinforcement technique, the behavior of patient is routinely motivated by positive things and reward system is set up for them
•	Some distress strategies are also given to the patients. The main goal in these techniques is calm and peace. The more the brain is relaxed and quiet, the easier the information can get into it and be processed accordingly. The main focus of this technique is on healing, inner peace and healthiness.
Several studies indicate that Cognitive behavioral therapy reduces the rate of rehospitalization, can help anxiety patients in managing their worry, effective treatment of insomnia, depression and many other disorders.

Social Phobia Anxiety Disorder is the world’s third largest physiological problem. It is an anxiety disorder or anxiety attacks featured by overwhelming anxiety and excessive self-consciousness of a person in daily social situations. A person finds it hard to walk down the road or any street because he’s very self-conscious and feels that people are watching him. People with social anxiety feels that in public places like work, shopping, meeting etc. that everyone is watching them, and judging them. They can’t relax and enjoy themselves in public. They prefer to be alone or with closed ones. Because this type of anxiety is very painful, people having this kind of disorder finds it easy to stay away from these social situations and avoid other people.

Many people are struggle with these kinds of fears. But the situation that triggers the symptoms of social phobia can be different from person to person. Some people feel anxiety in most social and performance situations while for some other people anxiety is connected with some specific social situations such as speaking with strangers or going to parties etc. Physical symptoms of this social phobia anxiety disorder include rapid breathing, dry mouth, sweating, blushing, muscle tension, shaky voice, dizziness, twitching etc.
The treatment for social anxiety disorder varies from person to person. One may find the self-help strategies enough to ease his anxiety symptoms or one may need professional help as well some therapy or medication. Some of the self help treatments includes avoid or use of less caffeine, getting adequate sleep, quitting of smoking etc. Normally medication is also used to relieve from the problem of social anxiety but it is not a cure for this disorder. Among all the treatments available cognitive behavioral therapy can be said to work the best for treating social phobia or social anxiety disorder. This therapy includes the ways of controlling the symptoms of anxiety through relaxation techniques and some breathing exercises, replacing the negative thoughts with balanced views, facing those social situations in which the anxiety occurs rather than avoiding them. If the level of anxiety is increasing just consult your doctor and then go to a mental health professional and start taking the behavioral therapy

We are aware of the fact that the symptoms of panic attacks arise with suddenness and no prior notice is provided. Moreover, it is difficult to locate any apparent cause as many random events trigger their occurrence. Firstly, let’s take a brief glance on the indicators of a panic attack:

Large numbers of people feel as if their heart is pounding.

Few people report a peculiar pain in chest during the panic attack.

Gastrointestinal disturbance is also experienced at times.

Light headiness, dizzy feeling and nausea can be noticed.

Short breathing occurs which is referred as Dyspnoea.

Numbness is felt in hands and feet.

A panic attack tends to last for a few minutes or even for hours. However, panic attacks are always unanticipated and unproved. Since the indicators of panic attacks are very much similar to heart attacks, thus people often get carried away with a misunderstanding. At times, a panic attack is accompanied with disorders such as Schizophrenia, drug abuse and even Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Moreover, attacks which occur during nighttime are identified as nocturnal panic attacks, but nocturnal attacks are less common.

The problem of panic attack is now experienced by increasing number of people in a faster pace; moreover they are a serious threat to health all across the globe. Although there are many treatments available for diagnosing panic attacks, but the treatment differs from people to people. Fortunately, much success in gained in treating the hazardous disease with the combination of medication, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psycho therapy.

Moreover, people who practice Yoga and relaxation therapy regularly experienced excellent results to outrun the panic attack. All in all, if you have faced any of the above symptoms, then it’s highly recommended to pay a visit to your physician immediately.
